Sun Wander — Support & Privacy

Sun Wander helps you explore daylight, sun direction, and estimated nearby shade. Sun and shadow estimates depend on available map geometry and weather forecasts. Choose safe, legal walking paths and crossings yourself.

Privacy Policy Effective date: October 7, 2026

Location and orientation With your permission, Sun Wander uses location while the app is active and device orientation to display sunlight, shade, and nearby walking opportunities. Sun and shadow calculations run on your device. Recent walking positions are used locally during the current session; the app does not upload a walking trail to the developer.

Network services Weather requests send latitude and longitude to Open-Meteo. Neighborhood geometry requests send a geographic bounding area to Overpass services (currently overpass.private.coffee and overpass-api.de). OpenFreeMap receives requests for map styles, fonts, and tiles for the area you view. These services also receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address. Coordinates and viewed map areas can reveal your location. Their processing and retention are governed by their own policies.

Local storage and reminders The app caches map geometry and stores preferences on your device. If you enable walk reminders, it saves your last real location locally and uses it for forecast and geometry requests, including when iOS allows background refresh. Background refresh does not continuously run GPS. Notification planning and scheduling happen locally. A limited local sunlight-planning audit may include location and forecast samples; it is cleared when sunlight reminders are disabled. Turning all reminders off removes the saved notification location.

Advertising and accounts Sun Wander does not require an account and does not include advertising or developer-operated analytics. It does not sell personal data or use your activity for advertising tracking.

Your choices You can revoke location and notification permission in iOS Settings, disable reminders in the app, and clear downloaded geometry through the app’s cache controls. Deleting the app removes its local app data from the device; separately retained backups are controlled by your Apple settings.

Support and beta feedback For this beta, use Send Beta Feedback in TestFlight. Information or screenshots you choose to submit may be shared with Apple and the developer to investigate your report. Avoid including unrelated personal information. Apple separately governs TestFlight diagnostics and feedback.
